Hidden Peak: The Karakoram's Eleventh Giant
Gasherbrum I, also known as Hidden Peak, is the eleventh-highest mountain in the world. It is part of the Gasherbrum massif in the Karakoram range.
Access follows the classic Baltoro Glacier approach from Skardu and Askole, sharing the first stage of the walk-in with K2 and Broad Peak teams before turning towards the Gasherbrum massif. We handle transport, porter arrangements, base camp services and the paperwork that sits behind them, working to the schedule your expedition program sets.
Access & Approach
Expeditions start in Islamabad and continue to Skardu by air or by road along the Karakoram Highway. From Skardu, jeeps run to Askole, where the glacier walk-in to Gasherbrum base camp begins via Paiju, Urdukas and Concordia. Weather on the Skardu air sector is unpredictable, so we plan road contingency into every itinerary.
Expedition History
Gasherbrum I was first climbed in 1958 by an American expedition led by Nicholas Clinch, with Pete Schoening and Andrew Kauffman reaching the summit. Reinhold Messner and Peter Habeler made their landmark alpine-style ascent of the peak in 1975.
